Weeklog 2025-13

It’s been a while since my last Weeklog post, so it’s time to summarize recent events in another one…

I’ve been quiet online for a bit. After a fairly productive January and February creatively, I sort of hit a wall. Every time I went to post something, it felt forced. I’d open whatever app, start writing and then just end up deleting it. I’m even finding this post hard to write.

After more than three years on the “long-running project from hell,” the final phase deployed last Thursday. It was a total slog to get here, with more than six months of delays on this phase alone. I think the daily grind of it played a big part in why I’ve been quiet online. We’ll see what next week brings when the Finance teams really start using it.

The hot water heater in our RV has gone out again. The last time we had problems, it was a simple relay that needed replacing. This time, it’s something different. My poor wife ended up taking a cold shower on our last outing because of it. I worry it’s going to take months to get fixed and will impact the trips we already have on calendar. It’s forced us to cancel our trip in three weeks. I hope it doesn’t force us to cancel any others.

I learned a couple weeks ago my mentor suffered a heart attack back at the beginning of February. Since he only shared it on Facebook, I didn’t know it happened until he reached out to cancel our March meeting. I left the Meta platforms completely back in January. From what he’s texted me so far, it wasn’t super-serious and he’s recovering, though it was serious enough to have a defibrillator implanted. Yikes!

I spent last weekend cleaning up the outside of the house and breaking out the gear for summertime. I always feel energized when the back yard furniture is uncovered, knowing good weather and good times are just around the corner.
-
On a whim, I upgraded old licenses for Hazel and Default Folder X, and purchased a new license for Keyboard Maestro. I’m trying to figure out how best to integrate them into my workflow.

I decided to jump back on Bluesky. There’s a cadre of Salesforce people there I used to interact with when we were all on Twitter. Now that the LRPFH is complete, I’ll get back to being active in that ecosystem and thought it good to reconnect.
-
Speaking of Salesforce, I’ve scheduled some training classes over the next month. Thankfully, our contract provides us with free learning. It’s time to pursue some of those certifications I’ve been putting off.

Finally, I’m jazzed that the very last Apple Card payment gets made today. I’ve used it to purchase a good amount of tech over the last year. Though it wasn’t a huge amount monthly, to have one more creditor wiped off the books feels great.
That ended up being more than I thought it would be when I first launched MarsEdit to write. If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
I hope to not be so quiet going forward.
